NACA (National Association of Campus Activities) National Convention 2011
St. Louis from Feb19-23
NACA Nationals is a week(ish) long convention where planning boards from colleges and universities from all around the country get together to view and book acts for their upcoming programs. It's a great time and it's not just a week long of concerts and performances. Delegates from each school are required to also attend educational sessions which span in topics from "How to plan a successful events" to "Being a great leader" to "How to have a successful life in college." The sessions are not just solely centered around planning events and activities, they are also about personal development and success after graduation.
I have already been to three NACA Nationals as a student. St. Louis in 2008, Nashville in 2009, and Boston in 2010. I am really excited for my 4th year (back in St. Louis) because I will be attending as an advisor and am now able to attend the professional sessions that will further help me out in my new future in Student Affairs. I can't wait for this Saturday so I can take a great group of students to this awesome convention!

MBLGTACC 2011 Conference
Ann Arbor from Feb25-27
So lets begin with what that acronym actually means: Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference. I have never been to one before so I'm not 100% what's going down. From what I understand is it is a weekend full of speakers, workshops, and other events all centering around LGBTQ issues. I'm excited to be going with a group of students/good friends. I hope this turns out to be as great of an experience as NACA is!

Miss Lighthouse Coast & Miss Michigan Orientation
Muskegon from Mar4-6
Okay so no, I am not a pageant girl (although we all know I wish I was) but I do help run a local preliminary to Miss America, the Miss Lawrence Tech pageant. With that, we must help out our winner and runner-up with their next steps. For our winner it's the Miss Michigan pageant, and our runner-up, the Miss Lighthouse Coast pageant which is a sweeps pageant that all runner-ups from local prelim pageants have a second chance to get to compete in the Miss Michigan pageant. The weekend starts with the Miss Lighthouse Coast show which we will be cheering on our Miss LTU runner-up, Cassandra Pizzi. The next day is orientation for our Miss LTU 2011, Jasmine Jones, for the upcoming Miss Michigan show in June. I'm excited because I get to go with my boss and another co-worker. The drive is going to be hilarious, for sures!
