Alrighty, so as of the moment... I am topic-less. For the life of me I can't think of anything to write about. Any suggestions? haha

Okay I lied... LOVE this apartment!
Okay so I lied, THIS is the apartment I've actually been looking at but I wasn't sure if it was in my price range and it IS! It's more than the last one I posted but it has a seperate kitchen and these AMAZING built-ins! Here are some pics and the floorplan.
EEEEEEEEEE! (I'm happy)

Monkey Wrench
Oh Get Fuzzy, it has been far too long since I read you!
So I for some odd reason stopped reading comics a couple years back and I HAVE NO IDEA WHY! This is clearly a shame because lets face it, who doesn't need a laugh every morning? With that, I'm going to start up again. Get Fuzzy was one of my favorites so it is definitely back on the list.
Let me know which ones you think I would like and I'll look them up!

Darth GAYder!
I would have a whole new appreciation for Star Wars...
Hey I'm gay, get over it. Pictures like this are bound to happen every once and a while!

Hope it Works
So anyone that knows me and my involvement at Lawrence Tech would know that I have been pushing for a lot of changes around campus regarding LGBT affairs. With that I think I am now able to get something in gear (besides OUT!) that will keep going even after I leave (which holy cow is soon).
Today I (more or less and without asking) launched the Lawrence Tech Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Resource Center. Obviously being I just went "look it exists" there isn't a dedicated space on campus for the center, but maybe someday? In the meantime it will just have to exist in the virtual world. I'm excited to see what happens with it though!

Yeah Detroit!
Okay, so even with Detroit's tough times I have always loved the city. Between the architecture and the unique culture of Detroit, it's just awesome to me. It also seems like others are finally realizing this and they have money to boot!
A few weeks ago, COBO announced that it would be doing a $221 million dollar renovation to the building to improve the convention center and, holy crap, bring it up to the standards of most modern day convention centers. Here's a link to an article about it:

And here is the AWESOME 3D tour!
Now on top of that I heard today that the owner of the Michigan Central Depot is planning on doing a facelift to the structure! I'm glad that people (with the funds to do it)are finally realizing that Detroit needs the private sector to help them out! Here's an article on the face-lift:

Me and Electronics
Alrighty, so I really need to stop. Whenever I get an idea do get something, especially shinny new electronics, I tend to overlook a lot of factors. Mainly, "do I really need it." For example, my last post with the laptop. I really liked the look of the laptop and loved that it was light and thin, but completely overlooked the whole battery life of a computer meant to travel... which was a whole 2 hours. Oops. I've been doing it with phones too. Well, it's really a debate of "fancy phone, or new laptop?"
I really have no idea what I'm going to need once I get to Chicago and start classes. LTU has kind of been an oddity compared to most schools where laptops are freaking everywhere and require for most courses. Adjusting to the real world is going to be a process.
Side Note: To all of y'all LTUers who complain about how horrible your laptop is an all that... SHUT UP! Most schools don't just give out laptops with every program you'll ever need. Could you imagine being stuck in a computer lab all night with random smelly people stuck around you all day? I think not. We are all pretty spoiled on that front.
So anyway, getting back to what I was talking about... oh yeah! I get really excited about shinny new fancy things, do a bunch of research (although manage to miss a ton of stuff; thank goodness I have friends that throw red flags at me) and then end up doing nothing with it all because I realize I don't need it as of yet and that I really don't necessarily have the money for it either.
Ugh, me and shinny new things...

Lucy 2.0 or not?
Okay, so realizing the amount of walking I will be doing once I get to Chicago, Lucy, my current 17" laptop, is going to be a pain in the ass to carry around everywhere. Lets face it, I only currently carry her from bedroom to car-car to office, and it's a pain in the ass. I can't image getting on the L and walking all over town with it. With that, I have been looking at new smaller options and I think I've found one I like!
Keeping with my trend with Dell I guess, I am looking at getting the Vostro V130. It's a 13.3" running Windows 7 (64bit) with all sorts of other goodies. It comes in silver or, for an extra $40, red. All I would need to do is buy a USB DVD/CD drive which I can ebay for like $30.
What do y'all think? I like it, and no, I will not get a Mac.

Found An Apartment!
Alrighty now the true point of this blog finally gets into gear, updating people about me and Chicago!
After looking at hundreds of apartments online, I finally found a few I like, in my price range, in an awesome location. One in particular is very much so in my price range. Actually it's about half as much as it would have been to live in the graduate housing Loyola offers.
It's just a studio but as I said it's in a great area and the building offers a lot. The building is really kept up too. It's just 6 blocks north of the Water Tower Loyola campus and it's a few blocks from a bunch of transportation options.
Now, I would LOVE to move in June 1st. The building manager said she would be able to let me know what the June availability would be in a few days... so now I just need to find a job that would start around then to make it a true option. Chicago + no money = not a good thing.
Unfortunately this is not a done deal yet. Still have some stuff to figure out before I can make it mine!
Anyways, here are some pictures! There are a few layouts options but I only feel like posting one.
